INTRODUCTION

This is a certification course according to ASNT recommended practice SNT-TC-1A-2016 Edition. The course covers both theory and the hands-on training overing the syllabus topics recommended by “American Society of Non-destructive Testing” for Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing.

OBJECTIVES

  • This course reviews the fundamentals of Magnetic Particle Testing, concentrating on Magnetic Particle Testing techniques as applied to the major industries of the area. The main focus is on how Magnetic particle examination parameters affect each other.
  • These variables include amperage level, type of current and method of magnetization, method of current/particle applications, magnetic particle selection, demagnetization, and specimen precleaning and post-cleaning requirements. Also discussed are Magnetic Particle Testing report requirements.
  • The presentation is based upon the specific codes and specifications used by the participant’s employers. Magnetic particle testing procedure qualifications are discussed, as well as level II Magnetic Particle Testing certification.
